Lacing and Tying Cord

Gudebrod's extensive textile experience and coating expertise has produced a wide range of custom cords and cordage products.  Working with materials such as Kevlar, Fiberglass, Spectra, Nomex, Polyester, Nylon, Teflon, and Hair, we have engineered products ranging from 0.006" through 0.125" diameter, with tensile strengths up to 250 Lbs.   Listed below are some that have become "standard"; other sizes and constructions are certainly possible.  Consult our Sales Department with your requirements, and let us help solve your particular cordage problem.

 

 

 

Round Twisted Nylon Lacing Cord

Type P (MIL T 713)

 

Temperature:   -67F to 250F (-55C to 121C)

Colors: Natural (off-white) and Black

Put-up: 8 Ounce Spools Standard; Others available as special order.

Finish: Fungicidal, Microcrystalline wax or Untreated.

 


Style 552 Braided Polyester Cord

 

Strength 4 to 250 Lbs.  (Strength is determined by the size of the yarn used and the number of yarns in the braid.)

Maximum Temperature: 325F (163C)

Diameter: 0.006" to 0.125" (Diameter is determined by the size of the yarn used and the number of yarns in the braid.)

   


 

Fiberglass Lacing and Tying Cord

(MIL Y 1140)

 

Description:   Twisted and cabled 100% fiberglass cord manufactured in accordance with MIL Y 1140.   Both Neoprene (N) coated and Uncoated (U) products are available.

 

Application:   Lacing, tying, banding, and wrapping used in the manufacture of electrical and electronic apparatus.  Excellent Flame resistance.  The neoprene coating serves to protect the fibers, bond the cord into a unified member, and improve handling and knot retention properties.

 


 

Style 1875 - Self Extinguishing Polyester Tie Cord

(Meets AT&T Specification 59122)

 

Description:   Twisted Polyester yarns saturated with a flame retardant finish to provide self-extinguishing characteristics when subjected to open flame or elevated temperatures.

 

Application:   Lacing, tying, banding, and wrapping cord for use in bundling wire harness assemblies where flammability is a concern.

 

Properties:   Complies with the requirements of Underwriter's Laboratories 94 V-0 rating.   Excellent knot retention.  Self-extinguishes upon removal of flame source.   No emission of toxic by-products or halogens.  Complies with AT&T Specification 59122 for use in switchgear and cable harnessing applications.
